In anticipation of a challenging contest against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) have agreed on a seat adjustment strategy in several constituencies.
The PML-N has been in discussions with the IPP, particularly with Samsam Bukhari, focusing on seat adjustments in Okara’s NA constituency. The IPP will gain a significant presence in six NA constituencies if these talks conclude successfully. IPP candidates are considering running as independents in areas where seat adjustment agreements aren’t possible.
Additionally, PML-N leaders have reported positive developments in seat adjustment negotiations with other political entities, including the PML-Q, MQM, GDA, and JUI. Further meetings are scheduled with MQM and GDA to finalize these discussions.
There is an expectation of a forthcoming agreement between PML-N and PML-Q regarding seat adjustments for the upcoming general elections. PML-Q is reportedly seeking adjustments for four National Assembly and eight provincial assembly seats. PML-Q candidates Salik Hussain, Monis Elahi, Hussain Elahi, and Tariq Bashir Cheema secured victories in these NA constituencies in the previous election.
