Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to depart France today for a meeting with Nawaz Sharif, the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader, in London.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his elder brother Nawaz Sharif are expected to join the discussion through video conferencing.
The meeting agenda will include thorough consultations on key issues such as the upcoming elections’ schedule and potential names for the caretaker prime minister role, among other topics. As indicated by sources, the possibility of seat adjustments with allied political parties will also be part of the discussions.
Yesterday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) began printing postal ballot papers in anticipation of the general elections. ECP will print over a million postal ballots for the National Assembly and hundreds of thousands for the Provincial Assemblies of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan.
It’s worth mentioning that postal ballots will be available for Pakistan Army troops stationed at national borders and government officials positioned away from their residential districts.
Lastly, the federal government has allocated a budget of Rs 42.4 billion for the general elections scheduled for the 2023-24 fiscal year.
