Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed on a two-day official trip to Turkey.
At the request of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the prime minister is undertaking this 2 days trip.
According to a statement published by the Foreign Office, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Erdogan will jointly inaugurate the PNS Khaibar, the third of four MILGEM Corvette Ships for the Pakistan Navy, at the Istanbul Shipyard.
According to the statement, the two leaders will also engage in extensive conversations regarding bilateral relations, the regional situation, and other matters of mutual concern.
During his stay in Istanbul, the president of the ECO Trade and Development Bank (ETDB) will meet with the prime minister, according to the FO, who said that the PM will also meet with business leaders in Turkey.
According to the FO, fraternal connections between Pakistan and Turkey are strongly rooted in shared faith, culture, and history and are supported by great friendship and mutual trust.
The MILGEM project represents an important milestone in the Pakistan-Turkey strategic cooperation, which continues to advance on an ascending trend.
It is important to note that the launching ceremony for the Pakistan Navy’s first corvette, PNS Babur, took place in Istanbul in August 2021, while the groundbreaking ceremony for the second ship, PNS Badr, took place in Karachi in May 2022.
