On Wednesday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif announced that the coalition government’s tenure would conclude on August 14, with elections to follow in either October or November.
These remarks were made during the inauguration of the fourteen billion rupee Pakistan Education Endowment Fund and the reforms in the National Curriculum held in Islamabad.
According to Sharif, echoing the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decree, the subsequent administration, post-election, must prioritize education.
During the event, Sharif indicated that a budget of three billion rupees has been allocated this fiscal year to the endowment fund, aiming to empower the nation’s youth through education.
He clarified, “This budget will not be funnelled into the endowment fund this year but will directly benefit the youth through scholarships.”
Sharif expressed his ambition to see the Pakistan Education Endowment Fund grow to one hundred and forty billion rupees over the next decade. He emphasized that education advancement is the key to steering the country towards progress and development.
Recounting the history of such initiatives, he noted that the Punjab Education Endowment Fund was initiated in 2008. Since then, it has provided scholarships to over four hundred and fifty thousand students.
Describing education promotion as a sacred responsibility, the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) leader advocated for special attention given to underdeveloped areas.
Sharif underscored the need to concentrate on delivering education that is relevant and meaningful to modern-day requirements to compete effectively on a global stage.
