The importance of early construction on the Mainline-1 (ML-1) and Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) projects for the Railways has been emphasized by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The prime minister emphasized the importance of these projects for Pakistan, according to a state-run news agency, during a meeting with Chairman China International Corporation Luo Zhaohui on the sidelines of the Geneva meeting.
Additionally, he provided information on the government’s 10,000-megawatt solarization projects and said the administration was making every effort to lessen its reliance on imported fuel.
The prime minister hailed the Chinese people and administration for assisting Pakistan’s flood victims.
According to him, China has recently provided assistance to Pakistan in agriculture, infrastructure, and energy, and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project has elevated their partnership to new heights.
Further, PM Shehbaz Sharif stated that the Pakistani people will never forget how the Chinese government and businesses supported flood victims during the recent floods.
The head of China International Corporation promised the flood victims all possible assistance from China.
While acknowledging the assistance, the prime minister sent Xi Jinping, the president of China, an invitation to visit Pakistan. The PM declared, “The Pakistani government and people anticipate the Chinese President.”
Project KCR
In November, the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project received approval from the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for Rs292.4 billion, with an Rs263 billion foreign contribution.
According to the state news agency, the project calls for building a 44-kilometer-long, dedicated track for a modern urban railway in Karachi. It would run from Drigh Road through Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Federal B area, Liaquatabad, North Nazimabad, Nazimabad, SITE, and Liyari.
