Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah have shortlisted four names for the post of chief election commissioner, on Tuesday.
The Supreme Court has already directed that CEC name should be finalized by December 5, stating no further extension will be given finalization on the name.
Mr. Shah had met the prime minister in Islamabad on Monday and discussed different names for CEC slot. They have shortlisted four names in this regard.
- Justice (retd) Tariq Pervez
- Justice (retd) Mian Muhammad Ajmal
- Federal Shariah Court Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan
- Justice (retd) Shakirullah Jan
Since prime minister has flown to London, the opposition leader will make further consultation on telephone with him.
The final names, after consultation, will be sent to the parliamentary committee for picking one of the candidates as CEC.
