Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a televised address to the nation on Tuesday announced to have the poll rigging allegations of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) probed in full detail by a Supreme Court commission.
He requested the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) to form a three judge judicial commission to do an in depth investigation into the allegations of rigging in the elections of 2013.
Prime Minister Sharif said: “I am requesting the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to name a three-member panel to investigate the rigging.”
He further said “I have been hearing allegations of rigging from one particular party. The whole democratic system is being challenged on the basis of these baseless allegations”
“There is no dictatorship or monarchy in Pakistan. The people are the actual rulers of the country,” he said
The prime minister reiterated his offer for talks, saying that his doors were open for negotiations.
