Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will formally launch the first-ever Prime Minister’s Provision of Laptop Scheme today under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Chairperson of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, will supervise the maiden national-level scheme.

Officials said the Prime Minister would distribute the laptops among students hailing from all the provinces, including FATA, Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. The objective is to boost the scope of research, quality education and improved access to information and communication technology among the country’s graduate and postgraduate students.

The Rs 4.0 billion scheme would cover 100,000 students across the country.
