Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will host a farewell dinner today (Thursday) in the honour of outgoing Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif who is retiring on Nov 29.
According to local news channel ‘Samaa News’, before the farwell dinner PM will hold a one-on-one meeting with General Sharif to discuss the appointment of the new leader of the military.
The army chief is to retire on November 29 after his three-year tenure as the Chief of the Army Staff.
General Sharif has held farewell meetings with senior military officials ahead of his retirement.
The Ministry of Defence has sent a summary to the Prime Minister for appointment of new military chief and Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee (CJCSC).
The outgoing CJCSC, General Rashad Mahmood, who paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif yesterday, will retire from his service on the 27th of this month.
The dossier carries names of four senior Lieutenant Generals – Lt-Gen Zubair Hayat, Chief of General Staff, Lt-Gen Ishfaq Nadeem, Commander-II Corps Multan, Lt-Gen Javaid Iqbal Ramday Commander-XXXI Corps Bahawalpur and Lt-Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, Inspector General Training and Evaluation
