Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday constituted a committee for implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) aimed at eliminating militancy and terrorism.
The PM will himself head the committee consisting of Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid, Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz and Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Asif.
The PM formed the body while chairing a consultative meeting on implementation of counter terrorism plan.
The meeting reviewed modalities to implement the measures announced by the Prime Minister in his address to the nation on Wednesday night.
Pakistan has ramped up its anti-terror strategy in the wake of the December 16 slaughter at an army-run school in Peshawar, where 134 children were among the victims gunned down by heavily-armed Taliban militants.
The PM has announced the establishment of military courts for terror-related cases in order to accelerate trials, and he has also lifted a six-year moratorium on the death penalty, reinstating it for terrorism-related cases.
