Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has responded to rumours regarding its flight ban to the UK. A PIA spokesperson clarified that the UK Department for Transport (DFT) has not decided to resume flights from Pakistan.
Pakistan’s spokesperson confirmed that no statement or formal communication has come from the DFT. They urged the public against misinformation. This update on the PIA UK flight ban counters claims of a confirmed ban extension.
PIA remains optimistic, highlighting its compliance with DFT audit targets. However, some media reports indicate that PIA remains on the UK’s air safety list, which prevents all Pakistani carriers from operating in the UK.

The UK government has included Airblue, AirSial, and others alongside PIA in this ban. Meanwhile, Pakistani aviation authorities are contacting the DFT to seek clarification.
The European Union’s decision to lift the ban in November 2024 by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has generated optimism for a potential return to UK flights.
Recently, a Department for Transport (DFT) audit of Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) indicated progress. However, the ban on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights to the UK remains in place, leaving both travellers and the airline uncertain as discussions continue.
