Pakistan International Airlines has signed a major cargo partnership agreement with Garuda Indonesia, marking a strategic step to strengthen Pakistan’s export sector and expand international cargo connectivity.
Under the Cargo Special Pro-Rate Agreement, Pakistani exporters will gain smoother and more reliable access to overseas markets. The agreement is scheduled to take effect in January 2026 and will remain valid until July 2027.
As part of the arrangement, cargo originating from Pakistan will be routed through Jeddah and Kuala Lumpur before reaching Jakarta and other international destinations. The partnership also opens up cargo connectivity to major hubs, including Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Bangkok.

Officials said the agreement will further enable Pakistani products to reach key Asian and Pacific markets, including Shanghai, Guangzhou, Seoul, and Australia. Exporters and freight forwarding agents are expected to benefit from competitive cargo rates and priority handling services.
According to aviation officials, the initiative aims to support Pakistani exporters, expand the national carrier’s air cargo operations, and strengthen Pakistan’s footprint in global trade and logistics networks.
The development follows another milestone for PIA last year, when the airline secured a cargo licence from the United Kingdom’s Department for Transport. The approval allows PIA to operate direct cargo flights from Pakistan to the UK and was granted after a successful on-site audit conducted jointly by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority and a British inspection team.
