Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) announced on Saturday that its Islamabad offices will close from October 14 to 16 as part of security preparations for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
According to the announcement, PIA employees scheduled to work shifts at the airport will continue their duties during this time.
Additionally, authorities have restricted public access to Islamabad’s Red Zone area to ensure security throughout the conference.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan also declared a three-day closure for its main seat in Islamabad during the same period, aligning with the SCO summit. This decision, guided by Supreme Court rules, follows an official notification from the Cabinet Division. However, all provincial registries will operate normally.
The SCO Summit will take place in Islamabad on October 15 and 16. In anticipation of the meeting, Section 144 has been enforced in Rawalpindi and Islamabad from October 12 to 17.
