Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) air hostess Sumaira achieved an unusual feat by reaching Canada without a passport.
When the incident occurred, Sumaira was on duty for flight PK 781 from Islamabad to Toronto.
Sources within the airline revealed that she travelled from Islamabad to Toronto using only PIA General Declaration documents, bypassing the usual passport requirement.
Following this incident, PIA incurred a significant fine for permitting flight attendants to enter Canada without appropriate documentation.
The airline’s spokesperson confirmed a $250 fine for the breach.
Despite rumours, PIA strongly refuted claims that the air hostess sought political asylum in Canada, labelling such allegations baseless.
Notably, over the last two years, more than 10 PIA air hostesses have disappeared in Canada, sparking concern for the well-being and security of the airline’s staff on international flights.
More information on the fine and Sumaira’s travel to Canada is anticipated, with senior reporter Javed Asghar expected to offer further details.
