The federal government has officially announced the petrol price increase in Pakistan in March 2026. According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, petrol will now cost Rs253.63 per litre, up from Rs252.63.
The revised rate will remain effective for the next 15 days.
While petrol prices have gone up, the government has kept the high-speed diesel (HSD) rate unchanged. Diesel will continue to retail at Rs254.64 per litre for the same fortnight.
The Ministry of Finance confirmed that the new fuel prices apply nationwide from the date of notification.
Fuel prices in Pakistan are typically reviewed fortnightly. Adjustments depend on global oil prices and exchange rate movements.
A one-rupee increase in petrol may seem modest. However, even small changes can impact transport costs and daily expenses over time.
If diesel prices remain stable, it may provide some relief to transporters and goods carriers, as HSD is widely used in heavy vehicles and public transport.
