The government has raised the petrol price by Rs7.45 per litre, to Rs265.61 from the previous Rs258.16.

The Finance Division announced these new rates, as determined by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), due to changes in the global market.

Additionally, high-speed diesel has increased by Rs9.56 per litre, now priced at Rs277.

According to the notification, international market trends have increased petroleum product prices over the past two weeks.

Despite inflation concerns, the petroleum development levy (PDL) for 2024-25 was set to increase by Rs10 per litre in the budget, from Rs60 to Rs70. However, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb stated today that this hike will not take effect immediately, keeping the PDL unchanged in this price update. Previously, the government reduced petrol prices by Rs35 per litre in over four reviews.
