Veteran actor Peter Greene died at the age of 60, whose body was found in his New York City apartment on Friday afternoon. Emergency services responded to a call at his Lower East Side residence on Clinton Street at around 3:25 p.m. There, officers found Greene unresponsive and pronounced him dead at the scene.
According to local reports, the circumstances surrounding the discovery were deeply distressing. A neighbour told local media that Greene was found lying face down on the floor, with visible blood and apparent facial injuries. First responders described the scene as troubling.
However, police later said they found no immediate evidence of foul play. Authorities have not yet released an official cause of death. The medical examiner will determine it following a full examination.
Investigators reportedly discovered a handwritten note near Greene’s body. The note read, “I’m still a Westie,” a phrase believed to reference an Irish-American gang that operated in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen during the 1970s. The meaning of the message remains unclear. Officials have not confirmed whether it has any direct link to Greene’s death.
