Comedian Pete Davidson and his girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders had a close call on Thursday night. Davidson lost control of his car while driving through Beverly Hills at high speed and crashed into a residential property.
Fortunately, neither Davidson nor Wonders sustained injuries in the incident. But the mishap has caused considerable property damage and earned Davidson a charge of reckless driving.
TMZ broke the news, releasing multiple images of the crash’s aftermath.
In response to the event, the District Attorney’s office issued a statement: “We believe that Mr. Davidson engaged in reckless driving, which ultimately resulted in his involvement in a serious collision into a home. Luckily, no one was seriously injured as a result of this collision. We know that reckless driving can have devastating consequences.”
Davidson was seen speaking with the police at the scene of the accident. His arraignment is scheduled for July 27 of this year, and while jail time seems unlikely, he’ll likely be held responsible for property damages and may face a fine.
PETA Charge Pete Davidson
This incident adds to a rough week for Davidson, who also found himself at odds with the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Earlier in the week, his family’s two-year-old dog passed away.
In an attempt to comfort his mother, Davidson purchased a new puppy of the same breed. PETA criticized the comedian for not choosing to adopt a dog instead. The confrontation led to an expletive-laden voicemail from Davidson to PETA.
Davidson defended his actions, saying, “My mom’s f-king dog, who is 2 years old, died a week before, so we’re all so sad, so I had to get a specific dog. So why don’t you do your research before you f-king create news stories for people because you’re boring? F-k you, and suck my d-k.” Despite the harsh language, Davidson has expressed regret for his choice of words, although he maintains that he was justified in standing up for his family.
