The Peshawar High Court has issued an order to the federal government and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) demanding a formal response regarding Azhar Mashwani’s wife and brother’s inclusion on the Passport Control List (PCL).
At today’s session at the Peshawar High Court, the bench addressed the matter concerning adding the family members of PTI’s social media in charge of the PCL. The court has explicitly requested that the federal government and FIA comprehensively explain this action.
The bench, comprising Justices Shakeel Ahmad and Khurshid Iqbal, addressed the petition filed on behalf of Azhar Mashwani, the PTI social media in-charge. Mashwani’s legal counsel informed the court that Mashwani’s family members had been placed on the PCL without clear justification.
During the proceedings, Justice Shakeel Ahmad sought clarity from the FIA regarding the reasons behind including the names on the list. The FIA’s legal director revealed that the action was taken following instructions from a “security agency,” although the specific agency was not disclosed in the directive.
Justice Ahmad pressed further, questioning the validity and details of the letter used to justify the inclusion. The court has set a deadline of April 30 for the federal government and the FIA to provide detailed responses.
