On August 3, 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that it would withdraw from future editions of the World Championship of Legends (WCL).
In the statement, the PCB cited “double standards and politically motivated” behaviour from the tournament organisers as the reason for this decision. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced this decision during a Board of Governors meeting, reflecting the board’s dissatisfaction with the management of the 2025 tournament.

The PCB criticised the WCL for awarding points to a team that deliberately forfeited a match, expressing concerns about the fairness of the competition. Additionally, the board condemned a press release issued after the cancellation of the Pakistan-India legends match, describing it as “biased and politically charged.” The PCB stated, “The championship’s purpose was compromised by political influence,” and characterised the actions of the organisers as being influenced by “invisible pressures.” They also stated that the organisers’ apology stemmed from “a particular form of nationalism.”

The PCB emphasised that sports should be free from political interference, highlighting its commitment to maintaining the integrity of cricket. It described the enforcement of rules by the WCL as inconsistent and cautioned that such biases could damage the credibility of the tournament in the future. The board’s strong position guarantees that Pakistan will not participate in events it considers politically compromised.
