The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is poised to unveil the national team for Tuesday’s forthcoming five-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series against New Zealand.
The PCB’s decision follows a meeting of the national selection committee with players who participated in a physical training camp in Kakul held at a local hotel in Islamabad. Mohammad Rizwan was the sole absentee of the 29 athletes attending the camp, having departed for Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah the preceding Sunday night. During the gathering, the selection committee shared insights into the selection policy, emphasizing player rotation and the introduction of new talent.
The PCB’s selection committee, comprising Abdul Razzaq, Asad Shafiq, Bilal Afzal, Hasan Cheema, Mohammad Yousuf, and Wahab Riaz, alongside Usman Wahla, Director of International Cricket Operations, deliberated on the squad composition. New Zealand’s team is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on April 14, shortly following the announcement of Pakistan’s squad, to participate in the series leading up to the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup.
The initial three T20Is will occur at Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium on April 18, 20, and 21. Subsequently, both teams will proceed to Lahore for the final two matches on April 25 and 27.
Participants in the physical fitness camp in Kakul included notable players such as Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, and others. The camp showcased a blend of experienced and emerging cricketers poised to represent Pakistan in the upcoming series.
