The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has once again extended the deadline for submitting bids for two new Pakistan Super League franchises, sources told Geo Super on Saturday.
According to insiders, the new deadline has been moved from December 22 to December 24. The extension comes in response to two bank holidays during the period and formal requests from interested bidders seeking additional time to complete documentation.
Earlier, the PCB had already pushed back the original bid submission date by one week. As a result, the auction for the two new PSL teams has been rescheduled to January 8, from the previously planned date.

The first extension was announced by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who cited strong international interest as a key reason behind the decision. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he said the league had attracted bidders from Europe, the United States, the Middle East, and other regions.
Naqvi added that the PCB was encouraged by the growing global appeal of the HBL PSL and looked forward to welcoming new franchise owners into the league.
The increased interest followed a high-profile roadshow held at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. The event reportedly drew a large number of international investors and generated what officials described as unprecedented attention for the league.

Launched in 2016 with five franchises, the PSL expanded to six teams in 2018. The addition of two new sides from the upcoming 11th edition, scheduled for next year, will mark the league’s first major expansion in seven years.
Once completed, the restructuring will increase the total number of PSL franchises to eight, further strengthening the league’s commercial value and global footprint.
