The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially disbanded the existing National Cricket Selection Committee, with plans to introduce a new committee shortly.
PCB selection committee’s restructuring aims to grant the forthcoming selection committee full autonomy in determining the national cricket team’s lineup.
The decision aligns with the PCB’s broader strategy to enhance the selection committee’s autonomy, as divulged by sources on March 18. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has emphasized the importance of granting the committee complete discretion and ensuring his non-involvement in the selection process.
The committee will select the national team and its captain and bear responsibility for its choices.
The future of other selection members, including Chief Selector Wahab Riaz, is expected to be resolved within a week.
Furthermore, the PCB is also finalizing its stance on coaching positions, expressing a preference for international expertise in guiding the national team.
The selection of Mohsin Naqvi as PCB chairman for three years signifies a pivotal transformation in the organization’s leadership dynamics.
