The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) faced significant backlash for omitting key achievements, including those of former captain Imran Khan, from a recent promotional video. Following the uproar, which included voices like Wahab Riaz, Urooj Mumtaz, and Wasim Akram, the board took corrective action.
The PCB clarified, “Due to its length, the video was abridged, and some important clips were missing.” The revised video now features Khan’s accomplishments, Pakistan’s triumphs in the 2010 and 2014 Asian Games, Misbah-ul-Haq’s leadership taking Pakistan to the top Test ranking, and Nida Dar’s feat of securing 100 T20I wickets.
Imran Khan: A Cricket Legacy
More than just a politician, Imran Khan boasts an exceptional cricketing journey. With 88 Tests and 175 ODIs, Khan’s remarkable averages kept him in the spotlight alongside star all-rounders of the 1980s, such as Ian Botham, Richard Hadlee, and Kapil Dev. Khan’s later years in international cricket saw him average an impressive 50 with the bat and 19 with the ball.
Among his numerous accolades, leading Pakistan to its first series victory in England in 1987 and securing the 1992 World Cup trophy stand out. Khan, who transitioned into politics, faces legal challenges, recently receiving a prison sentence on corruption charges.
