Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have debunked reports of financial losses from the ICC Champions Trophy.

During a press conference, spokesperson Aamir Mir and CFO Javed Murtaza announced that the revenue from the PCB Champions Trophy reached Rs 3 billion. “The ICC covered all expenses,” stated Mir. “We generated revenue through gate money and ticket sales, and we anticipate earning another Rs 3 billion after the audit.”

Mir dismissed claims made by the Indian media, emphasizing that the PCB exceeded its target of Rs 2 billion. Under the leadership of Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, the board’s revenue for the 2023-24 fiscal year reached Rs 10 billion, representing a 40% increase. “The PCB now ranks among the top three richest cricket boards,” he stated, also highlighting the Rs 40 million in tax payments made by the organization.

Under Naqvi’s leadership, stadium renovations were completed in just four months. “After 29 years, the venues now meet global standards,” Mir stated. Murtaza outlined a budget of Rs 18 billion, with Rs 10.5 billion allocated for Phase One. The upcoming plans target stadiums in Karachi, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi. Additionally, Mir confirmed that Naqvi has restored the salaries of domestic players.

PCB is awaiting clarity from the ICC regarding the Champions Trophy final. All financial information will soon be available on the PCB’s website to ensure transparency. The revenue from the PCB Champions Trophy represents a significant financial advancement.
