The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revealed the squads for the upcoming one-day international (ODI) and T20 international (T20I) series against New Zealand.
Shaheen Shah Afridi is poised to make his international cricket comeback after four months, having been named in the Pakistan squads for the series against New Zealand. The matches will occur in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi between April 14 and May 7.
Following a knee injury sustained during a Test match against Sri Lanka in Galle in July, Shaheen missed five Tests and three ODIs against England and New Zealand after the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. However, the 22-year-old made an impressive return in the Pakistan Super League 8, helping Lahore Qalandars successfully defend their title.
Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, and Mohammad Rizwan will rejoin both squads after resting during the three-T20I series against Afghanistan in Sharjah last month. Babar Azam will resume his captaincy duties for the ODI and T20I series against New Zealand, while Shadab Khan will return as vice-captain.
Young talents Ihsanullah, Saim Ayub, and Zaman Khan have been retained in the T20I squad, while Ihsanullah has been included in the ODI squad for the first time.
The team will gather in Lahore on April 6, with the training camp starting on April 7.
