The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has disclosed the categories of national cricket team players, salary details, and benefits.
According to the PCB, Category A players receive a monthly salary of 4.5 million PKR, while Category B players earn 3 million PKR monthly.
Following the recent contract updates, Category A players saw a 202% increase in their monthly salaries, while Category B players experienced a 144% increase. Categories C and D received salary increases of 135% and 127%, respectively.
In September of last year, the PCB announced new contracts for the national players, categorizing them into A, B, C, and D based on their performances. According to the PCB’s list, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi were placed in Category A.
The monthly salaries of these three Category A players were 4.5 million PKR. Category B players included Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Fakhar Zaman, and Shadab Khan, each receiving 3 million PKR.
Saud Shakeel, Hasan Ali, and Iftikhar Ahmed were placed in Category C, while Imad Wasim was included in Category D. They receive monthly salaries ranging from 700,000 to 1.5 million PKR. In addition to the monthly salary, national players receive match fees and awards according to the three-game formats.
Notably, the Pakistani cricket team faced an upset defeat against the USA team in the T20 World Cup 2024 held in the USA. The American team, led by Monank Patel, secured a victory in the super over, which he declared a significant achievement. However, this is not the first time an underdog team has defeated a strong or champion team. The loss to the relatively new American cricket team in their first T20 World Cup has sparked severe criticism.
