Passengers on an American Airlines flight to Texas took swift action last week, using duct tape to restrain a man who became aggressive and attempted to open the aircraft door mid-flight.
The incident occurred on flight 1915, departing from Milwaukee, as the man aggressively approached the cabin crew with his unusual request. After being denied, his behaviour escalated quickly, leading to an altercation with a flight attendant who tried to prevent him from reaching the door.
Dough McCright, a passenger, witnessed the unfolding chaos and stepped in to assist. “I could tell that the conversation was not going very well,” McCright told Fox4. He tried to calm the man by urging him to return to his seat, but he insisted on leaving the flight.

As the man’s agitation increased, McCright managed to subdue him with the help of other passengers, including Charlie Boris. They restrained the man by taping his hands and feet, holding him down for the remainder of the flight.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have initiated investigations into the incident. The man involved has been detained for a mental health evaluation but has not yet been charged. His identity remains undisclosed by the authorities.
American Airlines issued a statement emphasizing the importance of safety and security for all on board and commended the crew and passengers for their handling of the difficult situation.
