The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) recently reported a 0.30% increase in the weekly inflation rate, indicating a significant annual inflation rate of 17.96%. This update highlighted price fluctuations across various essential items.
According to the PBS report, prices for 23 essential commodities rose, seven saw reductions, and 21 maintained their previous prices. Notable increases were observed in the cost of onions, which rose by Rs 35.62 per kg, eggs by Rs 11.17 per dozen, garlic by Rs 16 per kg, and dal mash by Rs 5.58 per kg.
Additional products experiencing price hikes included dal chana, increasing by Rs 3.23 per kg; dal moong, by Rs 2.85 per kg; broiler chicken, by Rs 2.36 per kg; and LPG cylinders, by Rs 52.65 each. Prices for basmati rice, edible oil, mutton, beef, and milk also increased.
Conversely, prices dropped for several items, including tomatoes, which decreased by Rs 27.23 per kg, wheat flour by Rs 26.57 per kg, dal masoor by Rs 5.58 per kg, sugar by Rs 2.85 per kg, and 200g packets of red chilli powder.
