Hackers targeted the accounts of Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations last night, successfully breaching the official email ID utilized by the Information Wing.
Further reports indicate that the YouTube channel associated with Pakistan’s Permanent Mission at the UN was also compromised. The attackers altered the channel’s name, banners, and content after their unauthorized access.
The cyber attack on the YouTube channel and the email system occurred on Friday at approximately 4 PM US time. In response, officials from the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the UN have advised the public to disregard all communications from these accounts until full control is restored.
A new form of online fraud has been detected in a related development within Pakistan. Cybercriminals are attempting to access personal data by offering services to verify educational credentials.
