Pakistan’s trade deficit widened by 23.59 percent month-over-month in November and jumped to $2.87 billion compared to $2.32 billion in October.
As per the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) data, in November 2022, Pakistan’s trade imbalance increased by 29 percent to $2.87 billion as the government failed to increase exports.
In November 2022, exports were valued at $2.3 billion, 18.34 percent less than in November 2021 ($2.9 billion). The imports declined by 33.60 percent, from $7.89 billion in November 2021 to $5.24 billion in November 2022.
During July-November of the current fiscal year (FY23), exports totaled $11.93 billion compared to $12.36 billion during FY22, a decrease of 3.48 percent.
In addition, the five-month imports declined by 20.15 percent, from $32.93 billion to $26.338 billion.
The PBS stated that the country’s exports were $2.3 billion, while imports were $5.24 billion. In November 2022, exports declined by 0.63 percent monthly, while imports increased by 11.34 percent.
Nevertheless, Pakistan’s trade deficit dropped by 42.46 percent annually. The trade deficit in November 2021 was $4.99 billion.
