The nation’s highest-ranking military officials have committed to eradicating terrorism, extremism, and instability by adopting a comprehensive strategy approved by the government.
In an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement, the 257th Corps Commanders’ Conference in Rawalpindi discussed domestic and regional issues, including Pakistan’s various security challenges.
Chaired by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, the forum confirmed that the military leadership is aware of the challenges and pledged to fulfill its constitutionally mandated duties with the backing of Pakistan’s resilient citizens. The armed forces reiterated their commitment to supporting national efforts against internal and external threats.
The forum highlighted the ongoing intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in regions near the western border. It emphasized the importance of a coordinated approach involving the entire nation and government to combat terrorism in the long-term effects.

The forum also expressed its dedication to achieving the goals the National Security Committee (NSC) set through the collaborative application of all national resources.
During a National Assembly session on Friday, COAS Munir acknowledged that past negotiations with militants allowed terrorists to regroup in the country. His remarks echoed the decisions made during last week’s NSC meeting, which called for a comprehensive campaign against extremist organizations.
The army chief stated that the operation would involve representatives from security agencies and all government departments, emphasizing the need for a unified approach.
COAS Munir added that terrorists must accept the state’s authority and observed that their resurgence was due to the state’s willingness to negotiate. He concluded by ensuring security forces are prepared to establish peace through ongoing intelligence-based operations.
