Pakistan’s exports rose 8.93% in the first nine months of fiscal year 2023–24, reaching $22.914 billion, compared to $21.036 billion in the same timeframe the previous year.
The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) data reveals that the country’s imports fell by 8.65% during this period, totalling $39.944 billion against the prior year’s $43.724 billion. This resulted in a trade deficit narrowing by 24.94% to $17.030 billion from $22.688 billion year-on-year.
For March 2024 alone, Pakistan’s exports increased by 7.99% year-on-year to $2.555 billion from $2.366 billion in March 2023. Conversely, imports surged 25.86% to $4.726 billion from $3.755 billion in March 2023.
Month-over-month, exports in March 2024 experienced a slight decline of 1.08% from February 2024’s $2.583 billion. Meanwhile, per PBS, imports in March 2024 rose 9.25% from February 2024’s $4.326 billion.
