The International Monetary Fund (IMF) projected that Pakistan’s defence budget for fiscal year 2024-25 will increase by 313 billion PKR to 2152 billion PKR.

The IMF forecast reflects a substantial increase from the current fiscal year’s defence budget, which stands at 1839 billion PKR, marking a notable rise from the previous year’s allocation of 1804 billion PKR.

The current fiscal year’s budget increased from 1586 billion PKR in the prior year to 1839 billion PKR, marking sustained growth in defence spending. This trend follows an even earlier increase from 1412 billion PKR in the fiscal year 2021-22 to 1586 billion PKR. The continuous upward trajectory in defence allocations underscores a strong commitment to enhancing national security measures.

The IMF’s forecast for the 2024-25 defence budget underscores a continued prioritization of defence expenditure amid evolving regional security dynamics.
