The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has issued notices to several brands nationwide for misleading promotional activities related to sales and discounts.
A recent notification by the CCP has revealed that retail stores of various brands were found to be offering deceptive discounts during end-of-season sales.
Investigations conducted in the markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi showed that while these brands were advertising significant end-of-season sales, substantial discounts were typically applied to less popular items. Conversely, the most sought-after products received minimal reductions.
The CCP has demanded greater transparency in these advertising practices and sales offers, urging consumers to carefully verify the details of advertised discounts to prevent any potential deception.
The action is part of the CCP’s broader initiative to curtail misleading marketing practices. Earlier, the commission had also issued notices to 12 domestic cosmetic companies for similar reasons, underscoring its commitment to fostering fair competition and curbing exploitative practices in the market.
