Three Pakistani nationals injured in the UAE were among the casualties after debris from an intercepted projectile fell at Khor Fakkan Port, according to authorities. The incident also prompted concern from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who called for restraint and de-escalation in the region.
The Sharjah Government Media Bureau said a fire broke out at the port on Sunday after debris fell following a successful interception by UAE air defence systems. Emergency teams later brought the blaze under control, while cooling operations continued.
Authorities said three Pakistani nationals suffered injuries ranging from minor to moderate. The statement also said one Nepalese national was seriously injured and taken to the hospital.
Officials urged the public to rely only on official information and to avoid spreading rumours, as authorities continued to monitor the situation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on X that he was “deeply concerned” by the incident and prayed for the injured to recover quickly.
He said Pakistan is in close contact with the UAE authorities to provide all necessary support to Pakistani citizens affected by the incident. Sharif also reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with the people of the UAE and renewed his call for restraint and de-escalation in the region.

The Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi also expressed concern over the incident. It wished the injured a speedy recovery and echoed the official response from Islamabad. The reaction highlighted Pakistan’s effort to stay engaged with the UAE authorities as details of the incident continued to emerge.
Khor Fakkan Port sits on the Gulf of Oman and serves as a major logistics hub in the region. According to the source text, it handles 10-30 vessels per day. Its location allows ships to access the region without passing through the Strait of Hormuz, thereby increasing its strategic value for regional trade and shipping operations.
