Pakistani mountaineer Murad Sadpara has tragically passed away following severe injuries sustained during an expedition on Broad Peak. Ayaz Shigri, Vice President of the Alpine Club, confirmed the death of the esteemed climber.
Sadpara, a respected figure in the mountaineering community, was known for his remarkable contributions to mountain expeditions across Pakistan. Earlier this year, he was involved in the K2 Clean-Up and Rescue Mission. He had previously achieved significant milestones, including successfully rescuing a body from an altitude of 8,200 meters on K2. His adventurous spirit had seen him summit several of the world’s highest peaks, proudly waving Pakistan’s green flag.
The accident that led to his fatal injuries occurred at an altitude of 5,700 meters. Despite immediate rescue efforts facilitated by the Pakistan Army, which transported four local climbers to aid in the rescue operation, Sadpara succumbed to a severe head injury.
Efforts are currently underway by four climbers to retrieve Sadpara’s body to the base camp for proper homage. Earlier in the expedition, Sadpara was guiding a Portuguese climber when he slipped at approximately 5,000 meters, prompting urgent calls for military assistance.
Murad Sadpara’s death marks a significant loss to the mountaineering world. He was celebrated for his climbing prowess and dedication to enhancing safety and environmental preservation on some of the world’s most challenging peaks.
