Khalid Butt, a veteran actor and director in the Pakistani entertainment industry, passed away in Lahore due to complications related to kidney and liver diseases on Thursday.
The actor’s funeral prayers are scheduled to be offered after the Asr prayer on Friday, with arrangements being made by his family. Butt’s contribution to the arts spanned several decades, marking him as a prominent figure in both Urdu and Punjabi cinema and television.
A Celebrated Career in Film and Television
Butt’s journey in the entertainment industry began in the 1970s. He first made his mark as an assistant director before progressing to direct a film himself. Over the years, he became familiar with numerous television dramas, films, and theatre plays. His last appearance was in the drama serial ‘Khaie’, starring Faysal Quraishi and Durefishan Saleem. Butt’s dedication to his craft earned him the prestigious Pride of Performance award for his artistic services.
His notable performances include roles in acclaimed PTV productions such as ‘Jangal Pura’ (1997), ‘Boota from Toba Tek Singh’ (1999), and ‘Landa Bazaar’ (2002). Khalid Butt’s passing marks the end of an era in Pakistani entertainment, leaving behind a legacy of artistic excellence and dedication.
