Pakistan Women Cricket team defeated Bangladesh by 34 runs in the second Twenty20 International at the Southend Club ground in Karachi on Thursday, winning the two match series 2-0.

In reply to Pakistan’s 115-run target, Bangladesh could only score 80 runs for seven wickets in their 20 overs. Rumana Ahmed scored 27 runs while Ritu Moni scored 17.

Sumaiya Siddiqi and Nida Dar grabbed two wickets each for the green-shirts.

Earlier, Pakistan skipper Sana Mir won the toss and opted to bat first. The team reached their score of 114 runs with the help of Bisma Maroof’s 44 runs not-out and 33 runs by opener Marina Iqbal.

Nahida Akter picked up two wickets, while Salma Khatun and Lata Mondal picked up one wicket each for Bangladesh.

Pakistan won the first T20 by 29 runs earlier yesterday.

The visiting Bangladeshi women team will play their first ODI on October 4, followed by the second ODI on Oct 6.

The series in Karachi is a welcome sign for the return of international cricket to Pakistan, where no international cricket matches were played between 2009 and 2015 after a terrorist attack on the Sri Lanka team’s bus in Lahore in March 2009.

The country’s six-year isolation ended when the Zimbabwe men’s side toured Pakistan in May-June this year for two Twenty20 internationals and three one-day matches.
