Looking further ahead, another western disturbance may affect the country. The next system could affect the western and northern regions starting December 19. The alert comes amid broader climate concerns for the region.
A recent report warned that this winter could be one of the coldest in decades. This is due to the influence of the La Niña climate phenomenon. La Niña, caused by cooler Pacific Ocean temperatures, can trigger extreme global weather. Colder conditions could strain households still recovering from recent monsoon floods.
