Islamabad: Zimbabwe Cricket team will be given foolproof security during its tour to Pakistan

The interior Ministry has directed the authorities to make strict security arrangements for the visitors.

Zimbabwe are set to become the first Test team to tour Pakistan since militants attacked the Sri Lankan team bus in 2009, killing eight and injuring nine including six visiting cricketers.

Both sides will play two Twenty20 internationals on May 22 and 24, followed by three one-day internationals on May 26, 29 and 31 — all in Lahore.

According to police sources, all streets and markets around Qaddafi Stadium Lahore will be closed till the end of the tour.

In lahore, police carried out a full dress rehearsal on Saturday.

PM Nawaz Sharif has also been invited to watch the matches between Pakistan and Zimbabwe in Lahore.

According to sources, cricket officials in Zimbabwe have informed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in writing about their decision to come to Pakistan on May 19. (PhotoNews / AFP)
