Pakistan’s latest communication satellite, MM1, will launch into space on Thursday, May 30, following the successful launch of Satellite ICUBE Qamar.
PAKSAT MM1 will be launched from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Center (XSLC).
The SUPARCO MM1 satellite results from the tireless efforts of Pakistani scientists and engineers. It is designed to meet the country’s growing communication and connectivity needs. Officials stated that the satellite will help usher Pakistan into the digital era by providing internet to remote areas.
M Imran, Project Director of PakSat MM1, said, “Our team is very excited about the upcoming launch of PakSat MM1 on May 30.” The launch ceremony will be broadcast live for the media from SUPARCO’s Islamabad and Karachi establishments.
The satellite is expected to establish a sophisticated communication network and meet the growing demands of the telecom sector. Its advanced capabilities will address the increasing need for high-speed internet and seamless connectivity.
PakSat-MM1 will play a pivotal role in the socio-economic uplift of the country, the agency added.
“It will provide various communication services like broadband internet, TV broadcasting, mobile backhauling, and VSAT connectivity.”
Project Manager MM-1 Usman Iftikhar stated that PAKSAT MM-1’s primary objective is strengthening Pakistan’s communication infrastructure. It aims to broaden connectivity horizons, serve the unserved, and support tele-education, e-health, e-governance, and e-commerce, transforming Pakistan into a digital powerhouse.
He emphasized that communication infrastructure is the backbone of any country and plays an important role in development. This satellite will help provide connectivity to remote areas.
This communication satellite will be placed in the Geostationary Orbit.
