Pakistan completed a commanding 3-0 One Day International series sweep against Sri Lanka with a decisive six-wicket victory in Rawalpindi. The home team comfortably chased down a 212-run target with five overs remaining, demonstrating composed batting throughout their innings.
The successful chase began uncertainly when opener Haseebullah Khan departed without scoring. However, Fakhar Zaman and former captain Babar Azam stabilised the innings with a solid 74-run partnership that established the foundation for victory.
Fakhar Zaman played a characteristically aggressive innings, scoring his 19th ODI half-century with 55 runs from just 45 deliveries. His innings featured crisp strokeplay to all parts of the ground before Sri Lankan spinner Jeffrey Vandersay provided a brief resurgence for the visitors.
Vandersay claimed two quick wickets, removing Babar Azam for 34 and Salman Ali Agha for 6, reducing Pakistan to 101-4. This mini-collapse created temporary uncertainty before Mohammad Rizwan and Hussain Talat combined to secure the match.
Composed Finish Seals the Series
The partnership between Rizwan and Talat exemplified controlled, risk-aware cricket as they steadily guided Pakistan toward their target. Their unbroken 100-run stand eliminated any possibility of a late Sri Lankan comeback.
