Pakistan law enforcement agencies have captured two high-ranking Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commanders, Nasrullah, aka “Maulvi Mansoor,” and Idris, known as “Irshad.”
The Balochistan Home Minister, Mir Ziaullah Langove, shared the arrests’ details at a Quetta conference. He accused India of backing terrorist activities in Pakistan, claiming financial support is provided to militants by India.
In recent months, there has been a surge in terrorist activities, as the Q1 2024 Security Report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) indicates. The report notes 432 deaths and 370 injuries from 245 incidents of terrorism and counter-terrorism actions.
Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been particularly affected, accounting for 92% of the fatalities and 86% of the incidents.
During the press conference, officials presented a video confession from Nasrullah, a high-ranking commander of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
In the video, Nasrullah admitted to receiving support from India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). He disclosed that the TTP’s leadership, including its chief, Mufti Noor Wali Mehsud, operates out of Afghanistan. Nasrullah also detailed the group’s collaboration with the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and their joint objectives with RAW. These include efforts to undermine the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and orchestrate kidnappings, aiming to discredit Pakistan’s intelligence agencies.
Langove alleged that many reported as ‘missing’ are actually in Afghanistan and claimed TTP chief Mehsud has regular interactions with RAW officials in Kabul, with full support from the current Afghan administration.
