The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia vehemently condemned the disrespectful and reprehensible act of defiling the Holy Quran during the sacred month of Ramadan by an extremist group in Denmark in front of the Turkish embassy in Copenhagen.
In a statement, the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Saudi Arabia emphasized the importance of promoting values such as dialogue, tolerance, and respect and rejected any actions that spread hatred, extremism, and discrimination.
Notorious anti-Islam activist Rasmus Paludan carried out the desecration of the Holy Quran, a Danish-Swedish dual national, first burned a copy of the holy book near a mosque in Copenhagen and then another copy outside the Turkish embassy on January 27.
Pakistan also strongly condemned the senseless and deeply hurtful act of defiling the Holy Quran in Denmark and called on the international community to prevent such hateful and Islamophobic acts.
In a statement, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that the repeated occurrence of this vile act leaves little room for doubt in the minds of Muslims worldwide that the freedom of expression is being misused to spread religious hatred and incite violence.
She also urged the international community to be mindful of the feelings of the people of Pakistan and Muslims worldwide and to take steps to prevent such hateful and Islamophobic acts.
The spokesperson also questioned the legal framework that allows Islamophobes to spread hatred with impunity.
Baloch emphasized that when there is an increasing need for inter-faith harmony and mutual respect for peaceful coexistence, the international community cannot turn a blind eye to these hate-mongers.
