The Pakistan rain thunderstorm weather alert has been issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), warning of widespread rainfall, storms, and strong winds over the next 12 to 24 hours.
A western weather system entering through Balochistan is expected to affect multiple regions across the country. Authorities have urged citizens to stay alert and follow safety guidelines.
NDMA has warned of possible urban flooding in low-lying areas, especially in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, and Chakwal.
Heavy rainfall combined with strong winds may disrupt daily life and create hazardous conditions in these areas. Residents have been advised to take precautionary measures.
Several cities in Punjab are expected to receive rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds. These include Lahore, Sialkot, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, and Rawalpindi.
Other districts such as Sargodha, Gujranwala, Kasur, Okara, and Rahim Yar Khan are also likely to experience similar conditions.
Flash Flood Warnings in KP and Balochistan
NDMA has issued alerts for potential flash floods in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
In Balochistan, areas including Turbat, Gwadar, Khuzdar, and Lasbela are at risk of flooding. Meanwhile, districts such as Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, and Dera Ismail Khan in KP may also experience flood-like conditions.
Snowfall is forecast in the upper regions of Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Areas such as Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, and Neelum Valley may see snowfall, which could disrupt travel and road access.

NDMA warned that strong winds, lightning, and hailstorms may damage weak structures, trees, and power lines.
Rainfall could make roads slippery and increase the risk of traffic disruptions. In hilly areas, prolonged rainfall can trigger landslides. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and follow official advisories.
Tourists heading to northern areas should check the weather and road conditions before travelling.
NDMA also encouraged the public to use its mobile application “Pak NDMA Disaster Alert” for real-time updates. Authorities have directed provincial and district administrations to remain on high alert and take preventive measures.
