Islamabad: The federal government has announced a reduction in petrol prices by Rs5.66 per litre for the next fortnight, following recent fluctuations in global oil prices.
According to a notification issued by the Finance Division, petrol will now cost Rs263.02 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been reduced by Rs1.39, bringing it to Rs275.41 per litre.
The price of kerosene oil has also dropped by Rs3.26, now available at Rs181.71 per litre, and light diesel oil (LDO) has been fixed at Rs162.76 per litre for the next two weeks.
“The government has revised petroleum prices for the fortnight beginning October 16, 2025, based on recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and relevant ministries,” the official notification stated. The reduction in Pakistan’s petrol prices reflects adjustments linked to global crude oil trends and currency exchange rates.

Petrol is the primary fuel used by private vehicles, motorcycles, rickshaws, and small cars, making it a crucial commodity for middle- and lower-income households. Any change in its price directly affects daily commuting costs and overall household budgets.
Meanwhile, high-speed diesel plays a central role in the transport and agriculture sectors. It fuels buses, trucks, trains, and agricultural machinery, including tractors, tube wells, and threshers.
Experts note that changes in diesel prices can influence the cost of essential goods, particularly food and vegetables, due to their key role in the supply chain. The new fuel prices will remain in effect for two weeks, after which the government will review them again based on international market trends and exchange rate movements.
