The Directorate General of Immigration & Passports in Pakistan has introduced the e-Passport, representing a major advancement in the nation’s travel documentation since 2004.
Officially rolled out nationwide on August 16, 2023, the e-Passport features an embedded electronic chip, elevating its security measures beyond those of the previous Machine-Readable Passport.
Pakistan’s new e-Passort holds several high-tech components:
- Personal Details and Biometrics: Essential personal information and biometric data are securely stored.
- Digital Signature and Unique ID: Each passport includes a digital signature and a unique identification number, enhancing security and verification processes.
