Pakistan Navy has successfully test-fired the LY-80(N) surface-to-air missile during a major operational exercise in the North Arabian Sea, the Inter-Services Public Relations said on Saturday.
According to the statement, the exercise highlighted Pakistan Navy’s operational readiness and combat preparedness. It also reflected the force’s ability to operate effectively in line with the evolving demands of modern naval warfare. The drills combined conventional platforms with unmanned systems to validate multi-domain capabilities.
A key feature of the exercise was the successful live-fire of the LY-80(N) surface-to-air missile from a vertical-launch system at extended range. The missile accurately engaged and neutralised an aerial target, confirming the long-range effectiveness of Pakistan Navy’s modern air defence architecture.

The exercise also included precision strikes against surface targets using loitering munitions. These engagements demonstrated the Navy’s improving strike accuracy and its ability to integrate advanced weapons into real-time operations.
In another major development, the Pakistan Navy conducted successful open-sea trials of an unmanned surface vessel. The trials confirmed the platform’s high-speed performance, manoeuvrability, precise navigation, and resilience in challenging weather. Officials described the vessel as a low-risk, high-impact asset with the stealth and agility of a tactical interceptor.
