Pakistan has announced that it will consider Iran’s proposal to establish an Indian Ocean Naval Alliance, which includes Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, India, and Pakistan, for collective maritime security. This initiative could mark a significant regional security development, especially with China potentially playing a pivotal role.
In other matters, Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, stated the country will abide by its laws and international obligations when dealing with the individuals involved in the events of May 9. Requests for consular access for certain dual nationals detained in connection with the incidents have been received and forwarded to the Ministry of Interior.
Furthermore, Baloch dismissed allegations of human rights violations in Pakistan and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to local laws and international commitments. She noted that some Afghan nationals might be detained due to their potential involvement in the May 9 events, and if confirmed, Pakistani law would be implemented.
